Yes, I love technology, but not as much as you, you see.

Yes, I love technology, but not as much as you, you see.

This morning, as I was waiting for the Real Church podcast to post on iTunes, I sat bundled up on my couch and joined Craig Groeshel as he preached “Practical Atheist” at  Lifechurch.tv LIVE via the internet!  I’m so thankful (and amazied) for such cool technology!  I can’t wait until we launch our internet campus in early 2009.  It was so cool to ‘attend church’ from my home…  I was able to  watch the sermon, interact with others online and even chat with staff at the church for encouragement, prayer, whatever…  very cool.  It was such a great word and I feel so encouraged to not just sit home sick but, instead, be a part of a service.  It’s way better than watching a service on TV… it was almost like being there.

… almost.  Like the profound words of the intellectual giant “Kip” (in Napoleon Dynamite) found in the subject line, technology is awesome – I love it!  But, it still is NOT as good as actually being with people.  Touching others, laughing together, interacting face to face, worshiping, praying… plus all of the sights, sounds and yeah, even smells (well, not all…) of being together in person can NEVER be replaced!

I missed my church today.  I’m confident that my wife, Netta, rocked the world with her message and all of the cool testimonies that she interjected into it…  I’m going to enjoy the podcast later.  You can too, click the ear-buds picture (top right corner of blog page).  I may also check out another live campus later… but, nothing will ever replace BEING THERE!  I miss you & love you Real Church!!!

In closing, let me leave you with the prayer of blessing that the Apostle Paul prayed for the church in Ephesus (Craig Groeshel closed with this today)…

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way” Ephesians 1:17-23.

Wow, Amen!

    Hey Captain!
It’s cool hearing that you, in Detroit, are able to be apart of something that’s actually going on here close to Tulsa, Oklahoma. I’ve been praying for you the last few days, love and miss you guys!
