LOVE… antidote for fear.
LOVE… antidote for fear.
Nov 02Friends, the devil is such a punk! he’ll throw fear at you in any form that he can in order to make you numb or dumb to the awesome power of God. anxiety (worry, stress, FEAR) will show up & rock you of confidence, conviction & compassion – and, then, somewhere in all the “stuff”, prayer gets pushed aside – and satan laughs! NO MORE!
It’s time to crack back at the father of fear & lies! …how??
LOVE!
Yeah, loud, joyful, crazy real LOVE!
Anxiety defined: an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by physiological signs (as sweating, tension, and increased pulse), by doubt concerning the reality and nature of the threat, and by self-doubt about one’s capacity to cope with it.
What others have said:
• Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength. Charles H. Spurgeon
• God incarnate is the end of fear; and the heart that realizes that He is in the midst… will be quiet in the middle of alarm. F.B. Meyer
• It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live. Marcus Aurelius (the real gladiator)
• The only fear I have is to fear to get out of the will of God. Outside of the will of God, there’s nothing I want, and in the will of God there’s nothing I fear, for God has sworn to keep me in His will. If I’m out of his will that’s another matter. But if I’m in His will, He’s sworn to keep me.” A.W. Tozer
1 John 4:18 says…
- - “Where God’s love is, there is no fear, because God’s perfect love drives out fear” (New Century Version), or…
- - “Well-formed love banishes fear” (the Message)
- - “Perfect love expels all fear” (New Living Translation)
- - “Love has not been made perfect in anyone who is afraid” (Good News Translation)
- - “Make fear wrong by living love right” (Chilly Translation)
fearless: ARGHH!! chilly

great word!!! anxiety can be such an effective tool of the devil. personally, i have to fight hard against the spirit of worry in my life, whether it’s about work, worship, relationships, my health, whatever. I’ve always been a worrywart, and it can paralyze you in the face of everything awesome God wants to do through you. it can really hold you hostage.
seriously, great post :)
I’ll be honest. Since I’ve been down at school I haven’t regularly been attending Church. I still make it a point to read and pray, but in terms of surrounding myself consistently in a body of believers I’ve been using the excuse “None of the Churches here really fit.” (Which although true isn’t an excuse.)Lately though, I’ve been really making it a point to try and go more often. Study longer. Pray more frequently. In the last few weeks I’ve attended two different Churches….the message at both? Love. I’ve noticed lately in my own life that this is something I really need to work harder on exhibiting to others. Anyway, thanks for the word!
from a heart that struggles with the chains of anxiety, this is such a great message! it truly does force your eyes down on your circumstances rather than up to your Savior…and leaves you exhausted and discouraged! It is a beautiful thing to know God’s love and trust that He is moving
And then to pour the result of that knowledge out onto others!
The “Chilly” Translation is my favorite! Wow, did I need to hear this today. Somewhere, I got the idea that it’s okay to be anxious about life and allow my anxiety to turn me into a jerk-hole. It’s not right. Those moments of potential anxiety are there so I can trust God, love in place of fear, and look out rather than in all the time. This is good news!
awesome word
I especially love the tozer quote!
this is so relational Chilly, thank you. Anxiety stinks and satan is a LOSER!!…i cant stand feeling depressed…even borderline depressed is a major bummer. but im feeling ya man…just love! ~Kali
On 11-02-08 Pastor Chilly said that the devil uses insecurity and fear to make us doubt our faith and salvation through Jesus.
When we don’t forgive ourselves after truly repenting for any sins; when we can’t see how Christ can forgive and FORGET, then we are denying Christ, and ultimately, the devil wins.
Jesus has no memory of ANY sin confessed and sincerely repented of.
It’s as if that sin NEVER happened.
When we are in Christ and washed in his blood, God the Father sees his Son, Jesus, when he looks at us.
We are truly loved and meant to be with God and Jesus forever.
Just realize it, claim it, live it.
sooooooooooooooooooo good! thanks!
i really liked that quote by Tozer. when your living love right then you have nothing to fear i suppose. good thoughts. thanks
