poop.

poop stinks.

yours, mine, his, her’s and their’s – it all stinks.

yet, we all have to deal with it every single day – keep it longer than that, and we feel worse & worse… the process of dealing with it is awkward and well, embarrassing… you’re probably uncomfortable just reading this blog.

sin = poop.

I’ve never wanted to carry my poop around with me.  I don’t want to take it to the office, or Starbucks, or my friends house, etc. – I want it gone as fast as possible.  I’m not proud of it.  I’m not in some sort of delusional denial – believing that mine doesn’t stink like everyone else’s.  Whoa, mine reeks!

It’s despicable, vile and funky.  It requires a combination of:  opening the windows, spraying air freshener, lighting matches and/or spraying perfume just to cover the stank that it leaves behind! Sick!!

Did I mention:  sin = poop?

Maybe we don’t notice or mind the sin in others (and ourselves) because we’ve gotten used to the smell of it. If you live in the sewer long enough, it will become like home to you.  But that stinks (literally & spiritually)!

Go easy on those who hesitate in the faith. Go after those who take the wrong way. Be tender with sinners, but not soft on sin. The sin itself stinks to high heaven. Jude 1:22-23.

We have a responsibility to get the sin out, wipe it away and flush it out of our life.  Sound disgusting?  Well, it’s even worse keeping it within’ you and upon you.  Surrounding yourself with other people in denial won’t make it better, it just makes your life worse (and putrid).

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. James 1:21.

Living pure & holy lives seems so logical & right when you understand how disgusting, stanky & repulsive sin really is (worse than poop)!! God hates sin.  He won’t have it around him… He won’t smell it.  So, we need to be clean, righteous and pure!

Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life. 2 Corinthians 2:14-16.

The choice is simple: a poopy life or a pure life.

flushing away the sin & smellin’ better each day, Chilly

You said it perfectly. The smell is obvious when I hold onto my stinky sin. God is making me cleaner too! I can smell the difference, seriously.

Awesome post! The imagery is pungent.

The use of words through this analogy gives a better understanding to what sin is like in our lives than if you had just said don’t sin because its bad for you. Thanks

i’m just excited that you just blogged about poop. haha:) yes..i get the whole metaphor…but the fact that you just put time into a poop paragraph makes me smile.

Wow. Chilly! This was so amazing!
Great analogy’s

oh btw.
I still dont eat corn due to Youth Convention NNED 2 years ago!

But… 2 thumbs up and a AMEN!

love the analogy brother…but, dang brings it awful close to home…never looked at it this way…in fact I am going to write a short note over at my little spot in the world and link to here….

God has definetly been showing me the stank in my life…. many times I
sta—aaank BUT… I am grateful to God for showing me the areas that repulse Him so that I can grab some toilet paper/ baby wipes ;) and get to cleanin’! Ewwww… lol, I just grossed myself out, but I pray that sin would disgust me the way that poop does! I wanna be clean! Thanks Captain. You rock!

I liked this blog. It reminded me of one of your sermons at senior high camp fa-ho-lo 08 where you gave us laundry freshners. (great sermon btw!) :) I am truly blessed to hear you speak, you have taught me a lot and I’ve been passing on what I’ve learned to my friends and the entire cycle is just amazing. So- thank you!

This analogy is awesome!!! But it’s also really true!!! I am so glad that we don’t have to walk around with our sin, just by repentance we can be whole. And I sure know when that process hasn’t happened because that’s when my life does stink!!!

eew. poop is gross. sin is far worse. I never wanna get comfortable around sin and carry it around with me- or let someone around me carry theirs. I wanna be repulsed far more by sin than I am by poop. and poop is stinkin disgusting! Thanks, Captain :)

Thanks for this Captain. I love the analogy.
Getting clean
Adam

reading this the first time, thinking about poop- i was really grossed out. then i re-read it thinking about sin- and it hit me even harder. i wonder how often i have NOT been grossed out by sin… sick.
i want sin to repulse me way more. more than poop does. and even more than it does right now.
thanks Captain.

I feel the same as Pants, poop is gross; and I want to get just as grossed out about sin as I do with poop!

It’s such a great analogy!

Thanks, Captain!

hmm, truth can be so “icky!”
