Jan 10

Just a few words that come to mind as I think about today: Excited. Overwhelmed. Joyful. Grateful. Honored. Encouraged… Humbled.

I think we were all blown away today! God’s presence was so cool as we worshiped together in the penthouse of the Park Shelton in Midtown, Detroit. We may have been closer to heaven than any other church (don’t get offended – I’m speaking strictly of proximity to the sky)! We had 95 people (79 adults & 16 kids) – with some driving today all the way from Fort Wayne, Indiana and Ortonville, Michigan – so cool!

The place roared as we opened God’s Word to Joshua 4 and then I spoke a message called, “Another Step, Another Stone.” It was a practical look at the day God’s People moved from the wilderness to the promised land. God instructed them to build an altar of 12 stones (note: the building we’re in had 12 stories… just sayin’) – Joshua built a second altar of 12 stones in the river that would be hidden to most … but not to God or those who were there. WHAT DO THESE STONES PROCLAIM?

1. This is God’s WORK! v.6-8
2. This is God’s WILL! v. 10-13
3. This is God’s WITNESS! v. 9, 15-18
4. This is God’s WIN! v. 14

Such a powerful story of God’s destiny at work in His people.

Now, here’s something incredible that links Joshua’s story with our journey today:

“The people crossed the Jordan on the tenth day of the first monthv.19

How cool is that?!  We took our next step on the “tenth day of the first month” too! Now the key for us is to KEEP STEPPIN’! There’s so much more to do! Remember, yes Joshua led them to a new place but the walls of Jericho were on the horizon – many battles were ahead! We must remain, IN IT 2 WIN IT!

Thank you everyone who shared with us in person and/or in prayer! By the way, our Hamtramck campus also had a great Sunday with people saved & lives changed! ONE church, TWO locations! Both, Living a Real Love, from a Real God, in a Real World!

Please check out our new website: 1RealChurch.com – I think you’ll like all of the changes – I think it’s a fun site. And, if you scroll all the way down, you can: support us financially, get today’s Bible reading and listen to the latest podcast.

I need spend some more time thanking God, so let me close by also thanking you again! I’m so blessed to be the pastor of TWO great churches!  Much love, Chilly

God is great, this weekend was an amazing step for God and Detroit. I don’t think I was ready for the sheer awesomeness until I was actually in it, but I think we really hit the ground running for God here.

  12. Chilly, you fill me with faith and passion. Thanks for your example of fearless faith!

Honored to call you my friend!
