Primal: A Quest for the Lost Soul of Christianity

Primal: A Quest for the Lost Soul of Christianity

Dec 22

I have reviewed many books over the last several years – it’s always such a cool honor to get an advance copy of something and dive in before anyone else has had a chance to peek at it. Well, I have to be honest, I was chomping at the bit to get my hands on Mark Batterson’s latest release: PRIMAL. I gobbled up his two previous books: “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day” and “Wild Goose Chase”; and I was really interested in his latest release. Sometimes when you get yourself psyched up about something you find that it leaves you disappointed or let down… so, would Primal do this to me?

NO WAY! IT ROCKED!!

But, many previous studies or books that I had read on this subject were bone dry, too cerebral, theologically cumbersome or stupid. Mark’s take is full of passion, truth, application & adventure! I love it!

I found myself saying “Yeah!” and “I love you Jesus” outloud as I read it (in public places, mind  you…)! When you get your love life with Jesus back where it needs to be, you’ll find it easy & liberating to love others – including the haters & doubters!

Thanks Mark for, once again, bringing deep truth in a childlike package!  I not only found Biblical inspiration but also exhuberant joy! Now, don’t take that the wrong way – I’m not saying this book is ‘lite’ or superficial – it’s not! But, to me, true genius is the ability to go deep without trying to sound deep – make sense?

I can’t wait to share this book with my church, friends and enemies (not that I have any many)! Pick up a copy for yourself (and others) right here: PRIMAL ME! – go ahead, buy it!

I’m going to read it again over Christmas break and then pursue ways that my church community can study it and, more importantly, LIVE it!  This was a great Christmas gift to me – thanks Mark!!
