…an honest look at really knowing Christ…

Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat – I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Luke 9:23

1. Many people today CLAIM Jesus Christ.

• They talk about Christ. You know, everyone’s a “christian”…
• They do many activities in Jesus’ name. Hookin’ up JC… ugh.
• Many claim to be followers of Jesus. Until He asks for sacrifice & surrender…
• However, are they really true disciples?  Where’s the proof…

2. CLAIMING and NAMING Christ is not always Knowing Christ.

• Claim Christ as Savior, but not receiving Him as Lord. Free ticket to heaven, please…
• Claim to receive Christ, yet lives never change, do not become “new creatures in Christ.” I know and that’s what counts… oh really?
• Claim salvation, but show no desire to know Him better. He knows… we’re cool…
• Claim to follow Christ, but never any examination of self! Don’t judge me…
• Claim to bear the cross, but little time for Bible meditation and prayer. It’s a personal thing…
• Claim to be His child, but never use the gifts He bestows upon us. Don’t need to show off…

3. Christ calls us to die. PERIOD.

• Christ’s true followers die to self on cross. Bye-bye YOU!
• Christ’s true followers bear their crosses. Livin’ it LOUD daily!
• Christ’s true followers are in love with Him. Can’t touch my JOY!
• Christ’s true followers march steadily and continually forward on the narrow path of life, which leads to true discipleship and a heavenly home. I can look at myself and see ONLY Him!
