School Daze!
School Daze!
Sep 07Yep, the denial & procrastination must all come to an end! It’s time to go back to school! Many of you have already been back for a few weeks, but here in Michigan schools start tomorrow! This past weekend, we (Real Church) prayed over our students, teachers & other school workers (public, private, charter & even homeschool) and I’ve been doing a series entitled: “Schooled”… everyone should be pumped, prepared & ready!!
I like fresh starts – I could feel the nervous excitement on Sunday. We can determine that we’re going to begin with purpose, holiness, joy, love and character. Bibles are being opened, heartfelt prayers being prayed, personal pep-talks being proclaimed… and, lots of mirror time – looking ourselves in the eyes… “are you in their Jesus?!”
At our home, we kick off “Chilton Academy” tomorrow! My wife, hero, best friend, and true love (the hottest mom in America) will add another portfolio to her, already, full life by becoming ‘headmaster, teacher and cook’ of a daycare (Chase), preschool (Max), elementary school (Zoe), middle school (Courtney), and high school (Riley). Netta Chilton you are AMAZING!!
It’s going to be a crazy, thrilling, difficult and miraculous year for us all! Do you believe this?!
The Bible says in 2 Peter 1:3 that as we grow in our knowledge of God, through his divine power he gives us everything we need for life and godliness. Jesus relied on the Word of God alone to overcome obstacles, including the devil. God’s Word is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12), useful for correcting us when we are wrong and teaching us what is right (2 Timothy 3:16). So, it makes sense for us to carry God’s Word in our hearts through memorization, to be ready to face any problem, every difficulty, and whatsoever challenge that life can send our way.
I’m praying that YOU jump at the chance to start fresh and live at a whole new level for Christ!
I’m IN! Chilly

Did you make that photo? I’m digging it.
Nope, that’s a Stephen McGee pic. He’s a pro!
i remember back to school time pretty vividly from when I was a kid. definitely a unique mix of nervousness and a sense of possibility. Reading your pot brings a little of that back!
YES! This is good. I’m excited. It’s gonna be a great year full of purpose and people giving their lives to Jesus.
As a kid, I always hated the end of summer. However, now that I am a teacher/pastor, I am glad for it to be September and to be back in the swing of things.
I must say that I have been dreading school… not because it is so awful, just because I really enjoyed this summer, I wanted to hang on.
BUT, I was super convicted this Sunday because I havent been looking at this upcoming year as an opportunity to love and minister, I have been looking at it as just a tedious and draining job that goes from 7:30-4:00. OUCH! You said “We can determine that we’re going to begin with purpose, holiness, joy, love and character.” And this is what I intend to do
Thanks for the kick in the pants! Much love, PANTS
Did you have to remind me. High school…not fun. I am trying to represent a little more this year than the last. I’ve been having a rough time getting focused on God lately and I’m hoping that I can honestly talk to my friends about my/a relationship with God. Fingers crossed, eyes toward heaven (trying anyway.)
