God called!

-

God didn’t just call “us” … HE CALLED YOU.  Many people today excuse themselves from applying and obeying God’s orders – that’s right, I called it ORDERS – you see, His call for the believer is NOT optional – or when it’s convenient. In the New Testament the Greek verb to call occurs about 150 times, and in most cases God is calling human beings…  and, you are  human, right?

In the Old Testament God called Moses, Samuel and the prophets; in the New Testament Jesus called the Twelve and later Saul of Tarsus.

Today, although we may be neither prophets nor apostles, He still calls us into His service. It is a wonderful fact that God cares about us enough to call us personally and individually. In the end, we must realize it’s not a person (pastor, priest, parent) who calls you, no, it is always God… it is ‘He who called you’ (e.g. Gal. 5:8; 1 Pet. 1:15); and we are not just called to do what we feel like – when we feel like it – no, we are called according to His purpose’ (e.g. Rom. 8:28; Heb. 9:15).

  • Are you doing, right now, what He has called YOU to do?
  • Is your current life’s direction in agreement with Christ’s purposes?
  • Do you live in an arena & atmosphere where you can fulfill the great commission (Mt. 28:19-20) on a daily/hourly basis?

We, in Hamtramck, are living in a culture & setting that can help you.  IF you’re out of high school, young or older, and are seeking the experience of living in His Calling & Purpose, maybe you should talk to God about ‘us’ and then, get in touch with me…  it’s not for everyone but it may be for YOU. We’re still accepting students in our Xmin program – and we always have room on our team for fearless adult servants (that’s you, right?) Plus, we’re planting another Real Church this fall in midtown Detroit! Maybe God wants you to join us in the adventure!? Cool!

Either way, you’ve been CALLED – better figure out what it is and get busy!

In Pursuit… Chilly

    1) Yeah, I believe I am. I’ve been very insecure about this over the last year or two, but I’ve tried to push past it recently. The last time I asked God about it, he said not to be insecure and to stop asking about it. Waiting for an answer that’s already been given has definitely held me back in the past.
    2) My day-to-day needs a lot of improvement. Actually, it’s more like week-to-week. But my (our) overall direction looks good.
    3) Yes. So much stuff has been happening lately. There’s been a lot of attention on me and a few other guys b/c of this proposal. I’ve had a lot of opportunities to share my optimism with people. I’ve been getting to know some of my co-workers a lot better. One person is even promising to come to Big Splash. I’ve been trying to be more open about my faith. Honrstly, I’ve tried not to think about it too much so that I don’t mess it up.

I’ve always been so terrible at that. Give me a mic and a guitar and I’m right at home. But put me with coworkers, peers, old friends, and superiors, and I fall apart. It’s getting better though.

Oh snap, you said “live.” I read “work” … maybe b/c of the “daily/hourly” thing. Oh well, I’m not changing it now :)

  2. Pastor Chilly,

You mean it is not enough to go to church, have Christian friends and be nice. God actually wants us to do something? We are called to obey? We are called to follow orders and live in His will?

Great word sir……..church needs to quit playing church and get serious about what God is serious about.

    Love you man!

#1: yes, but I’m sure there’s more as my life goes on.
    #2: yes.
#3: No…not really. My life consists of work, church, family time. I work for my church. I used to work for a different company for almost eight years, but I was sooooo miserable at that job.

  4. #1 yes I believe I am
#2 Overall direction, absolutely. But my step-by-step always has room for improvement. And this is improvement that I want and am working for to happen.
#3 I do live, physically, in this type of arena, but sometimes disconnect myself from my purpose for living here. I need to live with more urgency to proclaim through words and actions, the message of what Christ has done in me.

Thankful to be part of this grand adventure.
    Love you
