In Tune?
In Tune?
Aug 09“Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshippers meeting together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become unity conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship. Social religion is perfected when private religion is purified. The body becomes stronger as its members become healthier. The whole church of God gains when the members that compose it begin to seek a better and a higher life.” A.W. Tozer

our associate pastor preached this weekend because our senior pastor is at A/G General Council. PC preached on God’s touch in our lives and how we need it. He then dove into the relationship aspect and communication aspect…needless to say, OMGSH!! He asked if anyone needed God’s touch and for those that rose their hands to go to the altar. God showed up and His spirit came and rested in my heart. It’s happened before but I was so hungry for God to come and touch my heart that I could do nothing but stand there for a few minutes and soak in His presence.
1) I think so. I hope so!
2) Yeah, there are some people I’m out of tune with. That’s crazy…yesterday I made a list of people I need to get back in tune with in my journal. I’ve been praying over the list, working out how to FIX IT.
3) Yeah, blaming the church is definitely the easy way out. If something’s not working, it’s b/c I’m not working. I wish I could remember where I heard that…
4) I helped a little kid fulfill his current dream of putting on a puppet show. I think he felt good. I hope so.
5)
Last night during extra light was great. We had some honest people at our table & I loved it. Brooke & I were able to encourage them to get in the Word & to desire it; that’s it’s life-changing… A necessity, not an option. I just felt really encouraged last night, and walked away knowing we’d be holding each other accountable this week for reading, praying, and getting closer to God.
That is an awesome quote. What a concept – being in tune w/God will make us perfectly in tune with each other. Wow. So true & very thankful for that truth!
1) Yes! I am happier and healthier! Why am I there? For Jesus. Focusing on Him is what makes me effective.
2) I do believe I’m out of tune with someone right now. Working on it. Haven’t been working as hard as I should though. Need to pray right now about it. (praying…)
3) I agree with Mo. When IT wasn’t working, I wasn’t working. Amazing how the church (messy and imperfect as it is) just WORKS when I get going with the work Jesus has for us and stop looking for a comfy corner to comment from.
4) This weekend a friend of mine took REAL steps of obedience and trust in Jesus. What part did I play? I prayed. Not just me, but many in our church. It’s amazing what happens when we agree together.
5) Thanks for reminding me to smile. The only expression that says it right is a smile. Our God is GREAT!
“hey are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow.”
“don’t blame the church be the church”
so good! and the great news is we don’t have to compare ourselves with ppl, just get in tune with GOD. interesting enough that u can’t just tune an instrument and be done but left alone it will go out of tune again. tuning is a daily thing. sometimes more than once a day.
also (unrelated to this post but..) i REALLY like the new site. the only thing is, and maybe it’s just me, but it’s kinda hard for me to distinguish between posts. that’s all
RESPONSE:
Kari, I’ve heard you & we’ve made the changes! There is now a bigger “leave comment’ bar that’s connected to a solid line that divides each post. So they should stand out more easily now.
Thanks for the comment.
