the REAL deal.
We must lay before him what is in us, not what ought to be in us.
Don’t just pretend that you love others. Really love them.
the REAL deal.
Dec 08God desires that our service, worship, witness, sacrifice, confession and love ALL be authentic. I think we tend to offer him candy-coated versions – what we think He wants or what we wish we possessed or were. But this causes us to allow deceit into what is sacred and ultimately we, ourselves’s, begin to accept, believe and live a lie. we become a fraud – yes, a china town rolex, without close examination most are fooled (including us). But, that won’t fool God… He’s lookin for the real deal!
We must lay before him what is in us, not what ought to be in us.
C.S. Lewis
Let’s examine our hearts. Are we authentic?
Don’t just pretend that you love others. Really love them.
Hate what is wrong. Stand on the side of the good. Romans 12:9
becoming Authentic, chilly

This quote is written on the inside cover of my journal because I so easily say, “Everything’s fine!” … especially to God. He must be saddened when we avoid Him like that. His LOVE is SO GREAT.
Thanks, Pastor Chilly!
wow. That’s so good. Love the Lewis quote. How much more enjoyable my life is and how much greater my time with the Lord is when I choose to be honest about what is in me- the good and the bad. I will experience no intimacy with God unless I’m completely honest about what is really there…plus, He knows it anyway. Why not be real with him and allow him to clean me up? Then I will experience real joy, real love, real life!!
Wow, I was thinking of this exact subject reading Psalm 40:6 today… Our sacrifice means nothing to God if it’s not out of HONEST loving obedience to Him.
My prayers go nowhere and my life goes nowhere when I’m not honest with God; He wants my best and my worst parts…
Awesome post!
honesty…is such a lonely word.
hehe. j/k. great post
It sounds so simple yet it’s still so tempting to try and impress God with lies. I’ve actually been thinking about this a lot this week.
Very great post!
How very true! Right ON!
It’s funny to think how I can try to lay something down before God without having it in the first place… I guess this is what happens when I examine myself instead of letting God and the Word examine me. yikes!
“God must be in complete control, or I can’t be whole.”
Hmm… I have some examining to do. Thanks for this, I needed it
Great stuff Chilly! I read these every day and you are such an encouragement!
